A Detailed Tutorial on Password Protect Directories
Enter main page of cPanel and choose the password Protect Directories option located on that page. Here you can find a record of account directories will appear on that page.
Choose the directory of which you want to restrict the access. Create a username and a password in the new page opened to you. Select the name which appears in login area and click on save icon to activate the process and ensuring protection.
One cannot use same Directory for Password protection and FTP storage at the one time. So, you have to create and activate the directory before enabling password protection for it.
It is also very essential to include that password which protects your www directory (or Web Root) will not lead to display of your website directly
